The early pup on the west side of Ramsey is making the best of calm sea conditions and seems to be putting weight on nicely. His mother looks healthy and relaxed but is keeping a good eye on him. He really seems to be getting a good start to life.
Porpoises haven't been much in evidence of late but we've had big tides and for some reason we never see as much of them on big tides.
The auks have returned to their breeding ledges and the kittiwakes are building nests (which they stick to the rock with a mixture of saliva and a particular kind of seaweed). We were a bit concerned not to see many fulmars earlier in the season but they seem to be here now.
The weather is looking up for humans too. Things are getting warmer and the forecast is for good weather this weekend.
