The places listed here have been recommended by our passengers and friends. If you're looking for a genuinely unique holiday experience: Technically yurts and tipis may be a form of camping but camping wasn't this luxurious when I was a child! Yurts and tipis are an experience in themselves. They don't just look good, they feel great: adventure in comfort! Trellyn and Ty Parke offer beautiful peaceful surroundings with all the facilities you need (and a few more besides). If you admire Ray Mears but lack his skills (who doesn't!) then this may be just the way to experience the magic of the outdoors. Our passengers have spoken warmly of the freedom to enjoy 'real' camping (with camp fires) but also more exotically about drinks under the stars. Excellent value for money and run by really great people. Both sites offer traditional camping or luxury yurts and tipis.
Or if you're looking for four walls! Amber Cottage - a traditional B and B with a warm and welcoming approach. Our passengers have spoken warmly of the food (local and organic where possible), the welcome and the views from the garden terrace, apparently a lovely place to have a quiet drink or two as you watch the sun go down over the coast. Great value for money and in easy walking distance of local pubs, restaurants, Cathedral etc and only 1 mile from the sea.
If you want to spoil yourselves and be in the middle of St Davids you'll get a warm welcome at the Grove Hotel. We can vouch for the good food and the friendly staff and we have checked out the rooms to see what our passengers were talking about. The Grove has an air of elegant times past but with plasma TVs and en suites - very civilised!
Caerhys is an organic farm about 10 minutes' drive from St Davids. Its rooms have lovely views over Abereiddy beach, which is just a few minutes away. The food is organic, some if it produced on the farm and is apparently very tasty!
Erinfa provides rather up market B and B and self-catering facilities about 15 minutes' drive from St Davids, 5 minutes from the coast. Our foodie friends have been impressed by the breakfasts. It's well placed for exploring the coast and boasts a really comfy sitting room for guests complete with log burner for those days when Pembrokeshire isn't as warm as you'd hoped (but still as beautiful).
Four walls with a difference - Preseli Venture's 5 star Eco Lodge Preseli Venture made their name in outdoor adventures. Like us they're keen to minimise their impact on the environment whilst offering the best in adventure. The lodge doesn't sacrifice comfort to eco friendliness. It's warm (ground source heat pump and lovely wood burning stove), has good food (essential for outdoor activities!), a drying room (another essential) and great views to relax with at the end of the day -perfect for adults who want to kick back and get away from it all.
